For the local elections in Copenhagen

18th of November

An international voice in the city council? Vote Christopher Røhl

My name is Christopher Røhl and I live in Ørestad with my wife and son. I am a long-time member of Radikale Venstre, the social liberal party, which I have represented in city council for the past seven years. I am passionate about politics especially as a local councillor.

Since being a councillor is a part time position, I have obtained a PhD in nanotechnology, commuting regularly between the University of Lund in Sweden and the Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby.

I hold a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Copenhagen, and I wrote part of my MsC dissertation at Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid under the Spanish National Research Council based in Madrid, Spain.

In my spare time, I like to read books, spend time with friends and family and travel to get new perspectives. This includes visiting my family in New Zealand and my friends living around the world.

My political work

My regular travels and experience as a student have heavily influenced me, especially my political work. I am particularly focused on creating employment and leisure opportunities, striving to make Copenhagen a more open and inviting city than it already is. It is vital to develop our cultural and sports facilities to better accommodate students, kids, and adults. I am particularly proud of having ensured that Copenhagen now has a student policy with concrete measures, such as mental health, housing, and relevant projects for the students. My ambition is to make Copenhagen the most student- and family-friendly city in Europe.

Another achievement has been to ensure more financial resources, inviting the world to Copenhagen and companies to settle in our joint mission to become the most sustainable city in the world. We are a green city, and we can use this to attract both companies and work opportunities.

I believe expats and international students make Copenhagen a better and more interesting city, and we have to ensure that everyone gets a warm welcome. Information must be available in English, and you should be offered opportunities to learn Danish, as our weird, tongue-twisting language is not always easy to grasp.

I hope you will consider voting for me in November!

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I would be happy to meet you for a coffee and discuss how we can make Copenhagen a better city for all who call it home.
